Count-down @ Marina Barrage

Last year, we gathered at Timbre at Art House for the New Year's countdown, but the view of the fireworks was blocked. This year, we heard that we may be able to catch a great view at the Marina Barrage, hence we head off to the area after dinner.

A huge crowd has already gathered by the time we have reached the place, despite it been only 10.30pm. We still managed to find a small area to sit and have our snacks and some wine before the countdown starts. Many avid photographers have set up their tripod, waiting for the moment to come.

I forgot to bring my tripod along, hence can only tried to capture the photo as stable as possible. Some random shots before the fireworks.

And the fireworks began!
But alas, the view was blocked by Marina Bay Sands building! >.<

A big turn-out!
But quite a disappointment for most of us

The red dot on the photo was actually the Kong Ming (Sky) Lantern.
Surprise to see it here in Singapore.

A group of people setting up the Kong Ming Lantern.....

And this had a pumpkin face! So funny! Usually wishes were written on these lantern before they are been released into the sky.

Hope 2012 will be a great year for everyone! Stay happy and healthy always!

Meet-up with Ex Colleagues! (^_^)

Met up with Ros, Ah Lu and 010 for dinner @ Daikokuya. The Salmon Capriccio. The salmon was very fresh and the sauce goes well with the salmon sashimi.

The Daikokuya Original Gyoza, not too oily and not over-fried!
Just nice! =)

Our respectively Ramen order! Can't really remember the name of the Ramen, not too bad though. Moved to Starbucks after our dinner to continue our session before going back home.

Mail from Paris!!!

Earlier on, when we were at the Eiffel Tower, We bought a postcard to be mailed back to Singapore. This was because the stamp used for the postage was unique, only available at Eiffel Tower, and we can have the post card as souvenir.

The back of the postcard......

The inside! =)

Another X'mas Gathering

Met up with my buddies for X'mas gathering at Foo House Bar and Cafe, located at Simpang Bedok. According to Alvin, this restaurant was quite popular and it was opened by a ex-Hyatt executive chef with 20 years experience.

With this in mind, we actually went with quite a high expectation. For the starters, we ordered the Magic Mushrooms and some platters to share. Both taste pretty normal despite the names.

Dear's Salmon Steak.
The cream base sauce was great, but the salmon was over-cooked.
It was too dry.

I tried the signature Foo House Roast Duck. This was actually recommended by Alvin as well. However after tasting, the dish was quite a disappointment. It was normal, and the duck was over-cooked as well. As a result, the meat was quite tough. Also, the fries taste normal, just like what you can get from the supermarket.

Roy trying to get a good shot of the food.
Think we were the only two taking shots of the food! =p

Fish Burger! This looked even more normal! This Fish burger looked like the $2 burger that one can get from the canteen, only that the patty is thicker.

Even Alvin claimed that today's food was not nice. However, he mentioned the standards were not like this previously. Maybe because the chief was not around?.

Nevertheless, great company is more important! =)

X'mas Gathering

Today, I had a gathering with my poly friends to celebrate X'mas and our gift exchange. Dinner was at a famous Zi Char place in Commonwealth, called Two Chefs Eating Place. It was recommended by Helena.

The dishes were at a affordable prices and long queues were expected every evening. The Muz Tryd dishes were the Nai Fen Pai Ku (Milk Power pork ribs), cereal prawns and Yao Cai Ji (Herbal Chicken).

I personally love the Nai Fen Pai Ku, cos the milk powder was very fragrant and the dish cos not very oil too. So were the Herbal Chicken. The soup broth was very delicious!

We went over to Dempsey's Ben & Jerry for some desserts and our gifts exchange after dinner

Consolidation of all our gifts! Budget set by Chin Heng was only $10, which was tough! But anyway, all of us ended buying gifts around $20 instead! =p

Finally a group shot!

It's lucky draw's time!
Helena got Shubin's pressie!

Gal got Shiqi's

Shubin got Trina's Present.
This looked like the most attractive present with the wrapping!

Shiqi got Ah Heng's pressie!

My Pressent from Tze Liang!

and his was from gal's....

Trina drew mine.
Well, it's suits her best as she's going to Europe soon and probably will need this! =p

and lastly, Ah Heng got Helena's present

The most eager gal!
The first to unwrap the present!

It's unwrapping time! =)

Gal love the key's holder from Shiqi!
It's so cute!

Lucky Helena got Shubin's mini foundue set!
Envy! =p

Cheers to our 12 years of friendships and many more years to come!
May everyone have a great year head and stay healthy and happy!
