Wedding Fair @ Klapson Boutique Hotel

A wedding show @ Klapsons, the bouquet hotel? I have no idea where the hotel is, but gal was telling me the hotel seems cool and wanna go have a look. Had to google for its location as i do not know of any other hotels existing near Tanjong Pagar MRT other than Amara Hotel and M hotel.

This definitely look like any other office tower.
How could there be a hotel among an office building.

The cool hotel reception counter !

The wedding hotel was held on the 17th Storey, but I'm more curious about the hotel rooms. Where are they located and are there any amenities for the guests?

Here's one of the venue for the solemnization. The flower deco and the color theme seems more like a garden theme. Simple yet nice settings.

The short aisle

The solemnization table and the center piece ....

Nice Gerberas !

gal with the flowers

They are pretty generous with the food for this wedding show. A huge variety of food to choose from. Btw, the food are supplied from a caterer. Probably because there is no restaurant in sight. I wonder if someone were to hold a banquet here, will it be a buffet style only?

Some random shots of the food ...

The food could be even better if they are warm .....

Nice display of wedding favors on a tier stand on Extraordinary Wedding booth.

The ROM series. First time that we came across short-hair gal modelling wedding gowns. She looks cool =)

The gal on the left is super, duper skinny !!!

More wedding gowns ....
Didn't capture alot cos i do not have a good view of it

Performance by A Little Dream.
hmmm.... Does all saxophonist have this kind of look? =p

There's roses and hydrangea. Wahaha, after months of researching, I'm finally able to identify some of the flowers used !

Sometimes something simple can be beautiful

Yap yap, we won another luck draw at the wedding fair again, though it's not something that we hope for. We were actually hoping to get the top 2 prizes, which were both very attractive. First price was a free photography by Avenue 8, while the second prize was a free wedding photography by Yvonne Creative, a bridal shop

Spotted a fine dining restaurant, Lucas, on our way back.

Where for honeymoon ??

We went to the town for a walk and came across this cherry blossom display in Takashimaya. We were planning a honeymoon trip to Japan in December, but looks like it is not going to happen after the nuclear incident.

With so many events and expenses coming up within the year, where else can we go? Stressed ..... =s

OSO Ristorante

This was our 2nd feasting session for the restaurant week. I have always wanted to try OSO Ristorante for quite some time. I was unable to get a table for gal's bf last yr, was glad to be able to grab this opportunity to try out the dishes during the restaurant wk.

A 3 course dinner for $45 is definitely quite a steal, considering one would usually have to fork out well over $100 to dine in OSO Ristorante.

The nice bread with olive and vinegar !
Though my photo may not do any justice to it

We got the outside seatings, but it was a blessing in disguise. The inside seatings may be better, but it was too noisy with people speaking loudly. At times, it seems like a market. The ambience of the outdoor dinning was not bad either.

I could not get proper shots through the whole sessions. The lighting made it difficult to bring out the true color. Maybe I'll have a reason for an external flash ?? =p

All set to feast !!

haha, i love the bread !!!! =p
Definitely much much better than Knolls !!

The fascinating starter !!!! 6 nice starters, try matching the names to the dish above !! =p

- Vegetarian mixed vegetables tartar "Scapece" style
- Vegetarian green asparagus salad served with mixed cheese tartar
- Homemade cured beef tenderloin served with Parmingiano powder
- Parma ham mousse in mustard dressing
- Crab meat salad and basil pesto sauce
- Homemade Marinated salmon with dill

Everything juz taste so nice !!!

It's finger-licking good too !! =p

The outdoor view

There are actually 4 main dishes for us to choose from. And gal chose this, Oven baked dory fillet in bread and fines herbs crust, cherry tomato and spicy paprika sauce.

One of the nicest dory fillet we had so far ! Taste so fresh and juicy, and it's not tough at all.

Gal's all smile and satisfied with her mains ! =)

My choice for the main, and you would not believe what i have chosen. Vegetarian homemade spinach "pappardelle" pasta with black truffle sauce. Yap yap, you did not see wrongly, it's VEGETARIAN ! =p

I have never tasted a more delicious pasta than this, and the amazing thing is, it's vegetarian ! One of the signature dish and i totally have no regret ordering this. And the expensive black truffle sauce!! When will i ever get a chance to taste it again =p

Big plate but small servings?? I guess all expensive and fine dining dishes are like this. But i certainly won't mind getting a bigger portion !

And the last course for the nite, the dessert platter.

70% dark chocolate in: mousse , cake
Strawberry in: sherbet, marinated and caramelized.

We finally had our cravings satisfied ! No regret in coming OSO Ristorante for the restaurant week. Definitely would wanna come back again ! Great dining experience, and also a much better one than Knolls !

I am already looking forward to the next Restaurant Week !!! =p

Some Personal Time (^_^)

This week was really shiok for me as I only need to work for a day. With my gal unable to take leave on Thursday and Friday, I was able to have some personal time. =p

It was good to be able to sleep till i wake up naturally. Decided to go to the coffeshop near my house for lunch. I was having chicken rice cravings.

I am not the kind of person who only eats in restaurants. I do like lots of hawkers/coffeeshops food. This is one of my favorite chicken rice, and I prefer chicken breast meat btw. Though it's chicken breast meat, it is quite soft and tender, and pretty juicy too compare to many other chicken rice stores.

And the rice? It is very fragrant ! While the reason most people ordered chicken rice is due to the cravings for chicken meat, for me, it's due to the rice!! =p

I don't need to have an expensive dishes. A simple dish like this chicken rice makes my day! =) And the best thing, it's cheap !!

Off to town to look for DIY materials for my ROM. Brainstorming sessions again !

It's Restaurant Week @ The Knolls !!

The long awaited Restaurant Week is finally here! An opportunity to dine at high class restaurant at a knock-off price. The first stop was The Knolls at Capella. My gal and I were looking forward to this lunch, anticipating a wonderful lunch with a great sea view. Btw, this is our first time to Capella.

Upon reaching The Knolls, we were greeted by the courteous waiters and waitresses. They even go to the extend of commenting on our dressing which surprised us. Top notch service as expected from a six-star hotel like Capella.

A quick look around the restaurant and I realised all the guests were dressed in business attire. We were the only ones in casual attire !

After glancing through the menu, we were kinda disappointed. It was a 3 course lunch, but we were not given a choice for our main. We felt kinda of cheated as we were expecting to sample some of their signature dishes, but the dishes look like any ordinary dishes.

The complimentary bread and butter. The bread was awful ! It was as hard as a rock and i even joked to my gal that i may get bruises if she threw one of them at me ! We tried slicing the bread to spread the butter, but gave up in the end. I resort to peeling off and dipping it in my soup to soften it.

It surely did exercise our jaws quite a bit ! And there wasn't any olive oil with vinegar to go with the bread.

We ordered wine to go long with our lunch for an additional $15 per glass. The white wine: Miguel Torres, Vina Esmeralda, Cataluna, Spain 2010; The red wine: Alta Vista, Classic Malbec, Mendoza, Argentina 2009. Not sure if these were good wine as we know nuts about it, but they were quite smooth and not bitter. Gal is into wine even though she's allergic to it.

Cheers ! (^_^)

The starter, Pumpkin Soup with Chive Cream. I was not a fan of Pumpkin soup but i fell in love with it. Nice thick soup and it goes well with the bread. Gal also love the soup. Not a single drop of soup was left in our bowl !

Our main dish, Thyme Roasted Chicken Breast with Beluga Lentils, Potato and Saffron Ragout. The chicken breast was carefully mould into shapes of a chicken wing. It was actually quite tender, but it was quite tasteless. The sauces did not seep into the meat and it was quite dry. The potato at the base was much better than the chicken breast! Gal and I were unsatisfied.

Random shot =p

Lazy bum, sleeping immediately after lunch?? =p

The last course of our lunch, Pineapple Financier with Lemon Ginger Ice cream. It is caramelized pineapple on top of a warm Almond cake. The ice cream is kinda of unique and nice, sweet and sour. Though the dessert did salvage our lunch a bit, but the over all experience was a pretty bad one.

With the bright sun behind my gal, it is hard to capture any shot without risking getting an over-exposed shot. ZzZzZz.... Maybe they should consider having a curtain?

After our lunch, gal gave her comment on the restaurant week website and we found out that we were not the only one that were disappointed with the dinning experience. Top notch service with nice ambience, but the food just spoils everything. With the costly price tag, you would expect it to be delicious or unique, yet it was neither. Perhaps the food served for the restaurant week were the few exceptions.

After our lunch, we explored the hotel since we were here. Nice pool area overlooking the sea and with tress surrounding it.

The Bob's Bar with lots of comfy sofa. Seems like a good place for chilling. I suppose the price tags are also "nice" ! =p

Last shot at Capella. After our lunch, brought gal to a nice florist shop to take a look at their hand bouquet for our ROM ceremony. Nearing to our ROM day but yet seems like a lot of details still not finalised. Stressed !!
