5th Anniversary Celebration

Happen to come across the Mid-Autumn Festival Fair @ Taka and decided to try out the mooncakes by different vendors before we decide which to buy from. This year, Raffles packaging seems a bit cheapsake while Sheraton's box looks pretty.

Initially wanted to bring my gal to OSO Ristorante for dinner. Tried booking few days in advance and found it to be fully booked. Was told to try walking in, which we tried but no vacancy. Sadz, settled for the next option, Osia @ RWS.

cool open-concept kitchen

Cozy settings, friendly staffs.
Entertaining ourselves while waiting for our starters ....

First dish to arrive, Black Olive and Rosemary Flat Bread. This is certainly the most affordable dish in the menu ($8), and perhaps the most filling too? It comes with a tube of bush tomato, vinegar and butter. Nice fragrance from the bread and it taste equally great, especially with the tomato.

Gal was saying the tube of tomato is cute...
and she goes squeezing away !!

Thumbs up given by the bread-lover gal

i can easily have 3 or 4 servings of this ! =p

Next on the list, Polenta Crumbed Foie Gras -Poached Daikon, Caramelized Banana and Rum Chutney. All the ingredients blend well and the Foie Gras was well done, it literally melts in the mouth instantly. Remembered the first time i introduced Foie Gras to my gal, she was hesitating to try it. Now, she's enjoying it and one of the must try dish if available!

savouring the Foie Gras ....

This is a beauty, Seafood Ice Experience. It comes in a rack of 6 fat test tubes, like those that are found in the science lab. One is to consume the dish starting from the tube on the left and proceeding to the right, where the taste will become stronger towards the end. The Tubes consist of the following, from left to right:

  • Blue Fin Tuna with Pineapple Lemongrass Ice
  • Amaebi Shrimp with Quandong Orange Ice
  • Sea Scallop with Calamans Mojito Ice
  • Oyster with Lychee Martini Ice
  • Lobster with Watermelon Lilipili Ice
  • Salmon with Apple Celery Ice

Of the 6 tubes, my gal like the Sea Scallop best while i chose the Oyster with Lychee Martini Ice. All the seafood taste extremely fresh, especially the oyster. However, Salmon with apple celery ice appears to be not so popular. We struggled to finish it, partly because the apple celery ice taste quite bitter, like med?

hmmm.... will there be any chemical reaction ??

nice, cozy place .....

Main dish for my gal, Hokkaido Sea Scallop and Prawns.

My Ceviche Sampler, consisting of Blue Fin Tuna (top), Sea Scallop (middle) and Hirasama Kingfish (bottom)

close-up of the seafood ....
The freshness of the ceviche easily beats most of the Jap restaurants around .....

Gal wanted a nice shot of her delicious scallop =p

Our last course of the night, desserts!! Valrhona Hot Chocolate Soup for my gal. The bowl of chocolate on the left taste like ultra soft brownie, juz tat u can't feel the brownie at all. The durian look-alike thingy on the right is actually vanilla ice-cream. Compliment well with the hot chocolate soup, definitely for people who love sweet stuffs !!

My Macadamia Nuts Tart with Strawberry Sorbet.

getting ready to go home .....

Solemnisation @ Burkill Hall (Botanical Garden) by ExtraOrdinary Weddings

Finally the day arrive! Though the vendors for this wedding show is not alot, they do produce high quality stuffs! One of the photography service that we fancy, Tinydot, is there! Since it is organised by ExtraOrdinary Wedding, we were expecting something different, and it certainly did not disappoint us.

Confirmed our attendance at the registration booth and explored around. Love the layout of the counter, simple yet nice, especially the 2 boxes of "veggies-like" flowers decorated with pink ribbons.

This is the venue of the solemnisation, an open area in front of the building with no shelter. As the day is approaching noon, it was very hot, so were the benches. The aisle was decorated with flower stands and cupboard in the shape of animals. It certainly fulfil the Garden Theme.

Wedding wishes from the guests

Some of the vendors at the wedding show.

and so the solemnisation ceremony begins .......

the flower gals and the beautiful bride marching down the aisle. One of the flower gals is actually the daughter of Yu Hsin, one of the main photographers of Tinydot.

the bride is looking shy here

hmmm ..... The groom is caught looking at the mcee.

Second march by the couple, after they were pronounced as man and wife .....

Enjoying our snacks before the actual 3 course meal .....

The wedding table layout and the nice wedding cake.
We were seated together with the bride and groom !

like the flowers in the boxes....
Wonder wat is the name of that flower ....

The pretty bride and the handsome groom cutting the cake.
The guy look a bit like Nat Ho, maybe a more matured kind?

Nice starter ! A slice of big mushroom which is juicy and tender. Goes extremely well with the tomatoes.

The main course, which conist of mashed potatao, pork and fish. Can't believe all this are actually provided by a catering service, Purple Sage. They do come with a hefty price though

The favorite course, dessert. My gal was so happy with all the desserts looking so yummy in the desserts room. Love the macarons very much, which has unique flavors like peanut-butter. Everything looks irresistable.

Our picks for desserts

After the wine toasting by the couple, a lucky draw was held with attractive prizes to be won. Amazingly, we won the first prize again!! Seems to have such good luck for lucky draws at wedding shows!

Among all the prizes that we won so far, this is actually something which we find it useful and like! It consists of the following:

  • a bottle of champagne
  • 1 cocktail dress worth $369
  • a complimentary 2 hrs outdoor photo shoot by Tinydot
  • $100 discount voucher by Tinydot
  • a complimentary Wedding Bespoke Design Service worth $500 and 15% off wedding stationery printing services
  • a bridal hair and makeup package with the Make Up Room
  • a session of Spa Manicure and Pedicure with the Make Up Room
