Feasting our way into the new year!

It was New Year's Eve, and we decided to have a simple dinner with my BIL and his gal at Peperoni Pizzeria. There was a craze about the super big pizza, but we have never tried before. And so here we were at the Zion branch for the super big pizza challenge!

The first of the starters that was been served, Rockmelon wrapped with Parma ham.
Loving it!

Up next is the Deep fried whole Portobello with sautéed vegetables in Arrabbiata sauce.
Though it was deep fried, the mushroom still retained its juiciness and was soft at the center.

The Calamari and the delicious Alle Vongole! They were pretty generous with the clams! Fresh clams in delicious white wine sauce! We cleared the plates within a few minutes!

And finally, the main star of the night, the must-have XXL Pizza! As we can have2 different toppings for the pizza, we chose the Pepperoni and Pancetta toppings. Now, time for photo taking sessions before we dismantled the pizza!

 Headache!

 The cute couple! =p

When we placed our orders, the waitress kept recommending us to take a large pizza instead. But we surprised her by finishing up everything! She had a shocked expression when she returned to clear the plates for us. The pizza was delicious, but the only thing we regretted was the choice of the toppings. Both the Pepperoni and Pancetta toppings were very salty!

And we were not done yet, there was still room for desserts!
We ordered the Valrhona chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream!

Happy New Year everyone!
Hope 2013 would be a better year!
Huat arh!!!

Xmas Day Brunch Buffet at Parco Caffe

It was a brunch buffet treat from gal at Parco Caffe.

A wide selection of breads were available.

A sausage, potato, asparagus, mushroom and baked potato to kick the buffet session.

We can choose how we want our eggs to be cooked.
Scrambled eggs and poached eggs were our choices.

The salad station with bacons and smoked salmon.

The carving station where salmon, beef and pork knuckle were available. The selections were attractive, but it turned out to be quite disappointing for both of us. The meat were left on the board perhaps for several hours after they were cooked, and they were not kept warm.

As a result, when we had our shares, they were pretty cold and tough. It really puzzled us why the meat were not kept warm.

At least the pastas did managed to save the day.
They have 3 different delicious pastas, which one can re-order.

Last stop, the dessert corner.

Well, looks can be deceiving. The cakes looked delicious, but it turn out to be average as well. It has been a long time since we had a buffet, and we arrived at the same conclusion again. Buffet may have a wide selections of food, but not all the food is delicious. Quality over quantity for us now, guess we would be putting off buffet sessions for quite some time.

X'mas Eve Dinner at Au Petit Salut

It is difficult to think of a new dining place that is nice but yet not too expensive. After shortlisting a few restaurant, decided to book our Christmas eve dinner at Au Petit Salut. The restaurant was packed when we arrived.

One of the 2 starters, Awesome Cold Norwegian King Crab, 63'C Egg & Aioli! The crab meat portion was generous, and it was really fresh and juicy. Paired with the runny egg white and a slightly cooked egg yolk, it was delicious! We just can't had enough of it!

The next starter was a big piece of pan seared Foie Gras.
Can it get any bigger than that?

My main dish, Poulet, which means chicken in French. When the dish was served, it looked like a fish rather than a chicken. 2 thin slices of chicken stacked on top of one another, and they are so tender and juicy.

Gal's favourite Seared Hokkaido Scallops.
This photo does not do justice to it.

Look at the size of the scallops on the plates.
They were actually quite big!

A sweet, yummy dessert to bring an end to the satisfying dinner.
Vanilla Ice-cream with Mandarin and Olive oil layered cake.

This was our 8th Christmas together, and many more to come!
Merry Christmas everyone and a Happy New Year!
