Dim Sum date at Yu Cuisine

We have always wanted to try the dim sum at Bosses (黑社会), which is located in Vivo City. Gal came across a deal in Groupon for dinning at Yu Cuisine and quickly snapped up the coupons.

Yu Cuisine, loosely translated as fish Cuisine, is located in Marina Bay Sands and is managed by the same group as Bosses. There was an incident and we almost call off this brunch session.

Initially, we were told by the manager that we were unable to use the coupons for dinning until further notice from Groupon. 3 other couples present were told the same thing and we were asked to fill up a form so that they will either refund us the money, or inform us on the dates where we can used the coupons.

Shortly after we filled up the form and about to leave the restaurant, we were told by the manager that they have resolved the issue with Groupon, and we can proceed to use the vouchers purchased.

Phew!

Crispy Fried Salmon Skin was served as soon as we took our seats. This was something different from the peanuts that most Chinese restaurant would serve. The Salmon Skin was very crispy but not oily at all, one of the best salmon skin that i have tried so far.

First on the order list was the Snow Mountain Char Siew Bun. It resemble Tim Ho Wan's famous char siew buns. The char siew fillings was quite decent, but the bun was quite dry.

Yu's Signature Golden Lava Custard Bun.
This is one of the muz try!
The size of the custard bun was quite big too.

The pipping hot salt egg york just oozed out non-stop after the first bite!
It had a rich taste, something which i like.

Finally a shot of the 2 of us together! =)

This is the Birdnest Scallops, and the scallops were really fresh. However, it turn out to be not something that we had hoped for. The birdnest actually refers to the mashed yam with fried flour, which resembles a BIRD NEST! Wahaha, we were hoping for the expensive bird nest!

This is one of the most popular dim sum, the Dinosaur Rice Roll. This is one big chee cheong fun wrapped around crispy fried batter and turnips and meat floss on top. Though it was deep fried, it did not appear to be greasy and goes well with the unique sauce.

Queen Siew Mai.
Does the Queen come from the prawn with its tail sticking upwards?
Fresh prawns, otherwise an ordinary siew mai.

We can eat a lot!!!! =x

Forgot the name of the dish.
Seems like Layered Custard Cake?
This was quite disappointing as it was pretty bland and dry.

Super Dumpling. Just like its name, it is a super dumpling with mock shark fins and crab meat. The skin of the dumpling was very thing and the soup was very light and tasty! slurp slurp!!

And we ended the meal with a dessert, Mango Pomelo Sago. This is one of the best mango pomelo that we have tried. It is thick and smooth, and it has aloe vera cubes in it.

We had quite a satisfying meal. We will be back if we have cravings for dim sum and such deal is available again in the future.

Trip to Universal Studio

Gal's brother gave us a pair of tickets to the Universal Studios. We decided to go on a week day as the visitors would be much lesser, and we will not have to spend a long time queuing for all the rides. However, this would mean missing out on the fireworks.

Thankfully, the weather was fine.

There were not many visitors seen along the streets, which was a good thing for us.

The first mascot that we came across.
Muz take photo! =p

I think we look good with the hats! =p

Hmm.... the lady on the left seemed shocked?

Betty Boop

Old school police car

Part-time construction worker!

First stop, Transformers Ride.
The ride was pretty popular as many people were seen queuing up.

 Closer look at BumbleBee.
Gotta wait around half an hour before it's our turn.

There were some exhibition of the items along the way to keep us occupied while waiting in the queue. Quite a thrilling 3D ride with storyline!

Photo taking time with the Optimus Prime

Bumblebee before transformation!

Spotted Optimus Prime mascot running away!
Break time perhaps, no photo with him.

Next stop, Battlestar Galactica! This is what makes your ticket worthwhile! We tried both the Human and the Cyclone ride! It was gal's first time taking a roller coaster ride. Good job! =p

Entering the Ancient Egypt World

Muz try Revenge of the Mummy ride. It is a thrilling indoor roller coaster ride full of twist and surprises. And the setting is pitch-dark, which makes it even scarier.

The Lost World. This is a world mainly for families and kids. We only tried the Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure and the Canopy Flyer.

The Jurassic Park Rapids simulates a ride in a raft. Be prepared to get wet at the end of the ride. Poncho is required, unless you do not mind getting wet.

The Canopy Flyer is a leisure ride around the perimeter of the Lost World, where you can enjoy a bird's eye view of the whole area.

Journey to the Far Far Away Land!

Luck was not on our side. Throughout the whole day, we did not meet Shrek, Princess Fiona or Puss in Boots.

Into the beautiful castle for the Shrek 4-D Adventure show

I have found a piggy! =p

Our late lunch at Mel's Drive in

A group of good-looking guys singing and dancing away just outside the restaurant

Hmmm..... Marilyn Monroe
Doesn't really look like her =x

Madagascar!

Alex, the lion!

It's show time!

I like to move it, move it!
I like to move it, move it!
I like to move it, move it!
Ya like ta, Move it!

The cute Penguins!

Sexy Hippo!

The photo taking session was pretty short! We did not managed to take photos with all the character, especially Alex! Trying to get the attention of Alex, hopefully a shot..... but ......

.... only he responded!
wahahaha! Not you, not you!

There was still some time before the WaterWorld show, trying to pass time by taking the Madagascar: A Crate Adventure

WaterWorld show! A cool short sketch with lots of explosions, stunts, thrills, and also WATER!!! Be careful where you sit, as it will determine how wet you will end up in. =p

A full view of the Battlestar Galactica

The last mascot that we met on our way out. It was quite a nice experience after all. However, the place is quite small. We were able to cover everything in half a day.

Don't think we will spend $68 per pax to come back again, unless it adds a few more attractions.
