Food Tasting Session !!!

After our appointment with HDB, we headed to my aunt's house to pass her our invites for our ROM @ Chua Chu Kang before heading to One Rochester for our food tasting. Seems like we have almost covered the entire Singapore. Tired from all the travelling.

For the food tasting session, we were allowed to choose 8 dishes from the list:

1) Soup
2) Antipasti - Marinated Prawns and Squids, Tomato Mozzarella, Basil Marinated Mushroom and Olives Roasted Bell Peppers
3) Smoked Chicken Salad with Sweet Corn and Tomato
4) Smoked Salmon with Traditional Garnishes
5) Braised Beef Short Rib with Root Vegetables
6) Oven Baked Cream Dory with Thyme Veloute
7) Wok Fried Mixed Vegetables with Mushroom
8) Assorted Financier

What was a food tasting session for 2 persons turned out to be a shock to us. The quantity of the the food is amount to for 4 persons ! As the place was pretty dark due to a heavy downpour, I was not able to capture all the dishes. Most of them were either too dark or over-exposed. It didn't turn out nice and i gave up. =p

The Marinated Prawns and Squid. Not bad, but the squids were kind of tough and hard. We had a hard time whether to comment on the squid, for we fear it would turn out to be too soft or "nua nua" on the actual day if we mention it was hard.

The Smoked Chicken Salad with Sweet Corn and Tomato, one of the dishes I like best for the nite. Also, one of the first dish to finish too! =p

The Tomato Mozzarella and the Basil Marinated Mushroom.

The Smoked Salmon with Tradition Garnishes and Oliver Roasted Bell Peppers. The Salmons were fresh and tasty, but we didn't really like the Bell Peppers. Not sure if most of our guests would actually like that as well, hence we requested it to be change to a Cold Potato Salad.

The yummi-licous Oven Baked Cream Dory !! All soft and juicy but it was way too salty! Imagine for a person like me who is very "Zhong Kou Wei" to say it's salty.

The Braised Beef Short Rib with Root Vegetables. Not too sure if the short ribs are suppose to have the strong "beefy taste". Too strong to our likings. We had a hard time to find the right word to comment, and we eventually seek help from the waitress.

The fun thing was, the waitress knew what we were trying to say but she did not know how to put it in words as well. In the end she consulted the chef and we were told by the chef that it is call "strong beef taste after taste" =p

Wok Fried Mixed Vegetables with Mushrooms.
This dish looks like a Zi Char dish ! =p

Finally a shot of us with the food ! =)

Done with all the feedback.
Hope the food will turn out well on the actual day.
