5th Anniversary Celebration

Happen to come across the Mid-Autumn Festival Fair @ Taka and decided to try out the mooncakes by different vendors before we decide which to buy from. This year, Raffles packaging seems a bit cheapsake while Sheraton's box looks pretty.

Initially wanted to bring my gal to OSO Ristorante for dinner. Tried booking few days in advance and found it to be fully booked. Was told to try walking in, which we tried but no vacancy. Sadz, settled for the next option, Osia @ RWS.

cool open-concept kitchen

Cozy settings, friendly staffs.
Entertaining ourselves while waiting for our starters ....

First dish to arrive, Black Olive and Rosemary Flat Bread. This is certainly the most affordable dish in the menu ($8), and perhaps the most filling too? It comes with a tube of bush tomato, vinegar and butter. Nice fragrance from the bread and it taste equally great, especially with the tomato.

Gal was saying the tube of tomato is cute...
and she goes squeezing away !!

Thumbs up given by the bread-lover gal

i can easily have 3 or 4 servings of this ! =p

Next on the list, Polenta Crumbed Foie Gras -Poached Daikon, Caramelized Banana and Rum Chutney. All the ingredients blend well and the Foie Gras was well done, it literally melts in the mouth instantly. Remembered the first time i introduced Foie Gras to my gal, she was hesitating to try it. Now, she's enjoying it and one of the must try dish if available!

savouring the Foie Gras ....

This is a beauty, Seafood Ice Experience. It comes in a rack of 6 fat test tubes, like those that are found in the science lab. One is to consume the dish starting from the tube on the left and proceeding to the right, where the taste will become stronger towards the end. The Tubes consist of the following, from left to right:

  • Blue Fin Tuna with Pineapple Lemongrass Ice
  • Amaebi Shrimp with Quandong Orange Ice
  • Sea Scallop with Calamans Mojito Ice
  • Oyster with Lychee Martini Ice
  • Lobster with Watermelon Lilipili Ice
  • Salmon with Apple Celery Ice

Of the 6 tubes, my gal like the Sea Scallop best while i chose the Oyster with Lychee Martini Ice. All the seafood taste extremely fresh, especially the oyster. However, Salmon with apple celery ice appears to be not so popular. We struggled to finish it, partly because the apple celery ice taste quite bitter, like med?

hmmm.... will there be any chemical reaction ??

nice, cozy place .....

Main dish for my gal, Hokkaido Sea Scallop and Prawns.

My Ceviche Sampler, consisting of Blue Fin Tuna (top), Sea Scallop (middle) and Hirasama Kingfish (bottom)

close-up of the seafood ....
The freshness of the ceviche easily beats most of the Jap restaurants around .....

Gal wanted a nice shot of her delicious scallop =p

Our last course of the night, desserts!! Valrhona Hot Chocolate Soup for my gal. The bowl of chocolate on the left taste like ultra soft brownie, juz tat u can't feel the brownie at all. The durian look-alike thingy on the right is actually vanilla ice-cream. Compliment well with the hot chocolate soup, definitely for people who love sweet stuffs !!

My Macadamia Nuts Tart with Strawberry Sorbet.

Chefs clearing up the kitchen ...
getting ready to go home .....
