Chef at work!

I was on leave today and decided to cook some spaghetti. Went to the supermarket to get some fresh scallops and prawns, and other ingredients as well.

Gal loves scallops, prawns and spaghetti in tomato sauce.

My spaghetti in Aglio Olio style. =)

Oven baked Portobello mushroom with cheese, tomato and capsicum.

Lousy Steam Iron ??

Got this standing steam iron free from the housing loan that we took up. Thought it would be useful and we can save on an iron and ironing board, but that was not the case. Either we do not know how to use it properly, or it was not as good as the ones in departmental store since it was free, the results was bad.

It was hard to iron off the wrinkles on the shirt, and it seems like it only work best for very soft fabrics. Gave up trying and went to get an iron in the end.

Renovation's progress !

We went back to check on the progress of the renovation. All the electrical points were up and raw materials were spotted in the living. Wondering what have they complete beside the electrical points.

The extension of the wall at the kitchen's entrance was completed. It was necessary to hide the fridge, else it can be seen from the living room. The finishing looks pretty raw on this side.

The view on the other side of the wall. From this view, one could not tell that the wall has been extended. The workmanship looks pretty gd! The base for the fridge was completed as well.

And so were the base for the kitchen cabinets, the gas piping and the electrical points in the kitchen.

The entrance to the common bedroom 2 has not been sealed up yet.
work in progress ??

The edge to separate the wet and dry area in the master toilet. There will also be a shower screen.

One week has passed but not much has been done. Perhaps both of us were looking forward to the completion of the project! Hope the progress would be much faster in the following week.

Shopping for bathroom & kitchen accessories, & lightings !

For the past few wkends, we were busy with our house reno and this sat was no exception as well. We had an appointment with our ID to source for our bathroom & kitchen accessories, as well as the lightings.

We thought it would be done in 2 hrs at most, but it took us the whole afternoon!

the taps and the wall-mount basins

and the semi-recess basins .....

and the taps for our basins were among them !
make a guess ? =p

Rain showers look pretty cool and shiok! But it can only go with a storage water tank. In the end we chose the instant water heater for both our toilets as it was more practical and cost-savings.

And our last stop at the lighting shop .....
Bling bling swarovski lightings !

Knock Knock, Hack Hack !

After 3 rejections from the HDB, we finally obtained the approval needed to hack one of the walls adjacent to the master bedroom (MBD) and re-locate the entrance of the MBD. We are converting one of the common room into a walk-in wardrobe cum study area.

The hacking of the wall marked the start of the renovation process! Next on the checklist will be the electrical wiring of the whole house.

A Peek at Our New House

Finally we were able to enter our new house after the "Door Opening" ritual. Snapping some photos to see the transformation of an empty shell to a fully renovated house.

It seems like playing the Pet Society game, where one can deco their own dream house !

The living cum dining area which looks very small. We were wondering how to fit the dining table and sofa within the confined space.

Our bedrooms door ...
looks pretty nice !

Our common bedrooms, which look so small.....

The common toilet

And this is our master bedroom. It is very very small ! Even my current bedroom is much bigger than this. After putting in a king-sized bed, doubt there's hardly any space for dresser and wardrobe. Hence, we will be knocking using the bedroom adjacent to the master room for walk-in wardrobe cum study room.

As the renovation is starting soon, both my gal and I were eager to see the transformation of this empty shell. Expect more renovation blogs in the coming few weeks as we check on the progress !

Collection of keys !!!

My gal and I took leave as we had an appointment with the HDB, to collect our keys! Finally after 2 years plus of wait, our house is ready !

Couple of things to do during key collections. Or rather, it's pay and pay time. The whole process was pretty fast. Perhaps it was a weekday. 6424, could this be the winning number in the next few 4D draw? =p

In possession of our house keys !!

Now that we have got the keys to our house, it's time to settle down for a ID for our house and shopping for the furniture and electronic appliances too.

Lots of big events for both of us this year: Our ROM, House Furnishing, Wedding Banquet, and lastly our Honeymoon. We need plenty of cash !! Any chance of a short windfall !!??!!
