Dinner at Bali Thai

The last time that I have tried Bali Thai was several years ago, at a colleagues farewell lunch. Back then, I remember the thai food was one of the nicer ones around.

Got a voucher from Groupon and have the opportunity to try their food again. We order the Green Curry Chicken, Stir-fried Morning Glory in Thai style, Sampler, which consist of combination of Spring Rolls, Corn Fritters, Crispy Tofu and Firecracker Shrimp, Mango Salad, and not-to-be-missed, Tom Yum Soup!

Glad that the food is still as nice as before! A great meal and our cravings for Thai food was satisfied!

It's a pity that there were no rooms for the Mango Sticky Rice.
We will be back someday again!

Hight Tea at Carpenter & Cook

This was an impromptu High Tea trip to Carpenter and Cook. As Nic was going overseas, he left his car with me over the weekend. Hence, we took this opportunity to go to a slightly further place for High Tea.

Thankfully, there wasn't any queue when we reach there. Waited for around 15 minutes for our turn.

There were just too many nice cakes and tarts to choose from the cake counter. It was a tough choice, and we ended up ordering the Lavender Bundt, Passionfruit Meringue Tart, Scone and Frangipani Tart.

Being adventurous, we were surprised that the Lavender Bundt actually taste quite nice. It may looked big and hard, but it was moist and soft inside.

Passionfruit Meringue Tart is the most popular item, there was no way we were going to skip it. The tart shell was very crunchy and the meringue is perfectly whipped. It was yummy and has a balance of sweet and sour taste. Definitely our favourite pastry among the them! Be sure to try it or regret it.

The fruit scone was served with cream and jam. It was quite soft and fluffy, but was a bit dry.
The Frangipani Tart has lots of berries and the texture is similar to madeleine.

Can't wait to get started!! =p

Gal with her English Breakfast tea!

My glass of Iced Mocha!

In addition, we also ordered the Mushroom Asparagus Quiche. It was nicely toasted with a crispy layer on the outside. The egg custard fillings was soft and light, and it is one of the better quiches that we have tried!

The interior of the shop was decorated with vintage items!

 Pretty cake counter

Camwhore time!

A great meal at Carpenter and Cook, if only it is more accessible to us. It is definitely a great place for a tea session with friends, or a place for couples to spend a laid-back afternoon.

Feasting our way into the new year!

It was New Year's Eve, and we decided to have a simple dinner with my BIL and his gal at Peperoni Pizzeria. There was a craze about the super big pizza, but we have never tried before. And so here we were at the Zion branch for the super big pizza challenge!

The first of the starters that was been served, Rockmelon wrapped with Parma ham.
Loving it!

Up next is the Deep fried whole Portobello with sautéed vegetables in Arrabbiata sauce.
Though it was deep fried, the mushroom still retained its juiciness and was soft at the center.

The Calamari and the delicious Alle Vongole! They were pretty generous with the clams! Fresh clams in delicious white wine sauce! We cleared the plates within a few minutes!

And finally, the main star of the night, the must-have XXL Pizza! As we can have2 different toppings for the pizza, we chose the Pepperoni and Pancetta toppings. Now, time for photo taking sessions before we dismantled the pizza!

 Headache!

 The cute couple! =p

When we placed our orders, the waitress kept recommending us to take a large pizza instead. But we surprised her by finishing up everything! She had a shocked expression when she returned to clear the plates for us. The pizza was delicious, but the only thing we regretted was the choice of the toppings. Both the Pepperoni and Pancetta toppings were very salty!

And we were not done yet, there was still room for desserts!
We ordered the Valrhona chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream!

Happy New Year everyone!
Hope 2013 would be a better year!
Huat arh!!!

Xmas Day Brunch Buffet at Parco Caffe

It was a brunch buffet treat from gal at Parco Caffe.

A wide selection of breads were available.

A sausage, potato, asparagus, mushroom and baked potato to kick the buffet session.

We can choose how we want our eggs to be cooked.
Scrambled eggs and poached eggs were our choices.

The salad station with bacons and smoked salmon.

The carving station where salmon, beef and pork knuckle were available. The selections were attractive, but it turned out to be quite disappointing for both of us. The meat were left on the board perhaps for several hours after they were cooked, and they were not kept warm.

As a result, when we had our shares, they were pretty cold and tough. It really puzzled us why the meat were not kept warm.

At least the pastas did managed to save the day.
They have 3 different delicious pastas, which one can re-order.

Last stop, the dessert corner.

Well, looks can be deceiving. The cakes looked delicious, but it turn out to be average as well. It has been a long time since we had a buffet, and we arrived at the same conclusion again. Buffet may have a wide selections of food, but not all the food is delicious. Quality over quantity for us now, guess we would be putting off buffet sessions for quite some time.
