Dinner treat from Gal, @ Osteria Mozza

Dinner treat from gal tonight cos she got promoted! Congrats! Osteria Mozza was the venue of the dinner tonight.

Osteria Mozza, located in Marina Bay Sands, is one of the several restaurants opened by Celebrity Chefs, Mario Batali. The restaurant is actually called Osteria Pizzeria Mozza, with the Pizzeria Mozza specialising in Pizza dishes, while Oesteria Mozza serves Italian cuisine, not only pizzas.

Complimentary Bread with butter, olive oil and vinegar

There was a choice of walnut bread and the normal bread. Both the walnut and normal bread had tough crusts, which is hard to chew on its own. However, this made it great for dipping in the vinegar and olive oil, or the mussel broth which we ordered.

Amuse Bouche, with compliments from the chef. Could not make out what it is from the waiter. It tasted like cheese ball over a parmesan cracker. Great dish for those who love cheese! =)

Steamed Mussels with tomato, chilies and herbs

Saw many people who visited Osteria Mozza ordered this dish, hence decided to try it as well. The mussels were fresh, and soaking in the broth made it even more delicious! The buttered bread toast goes well with the mussels. One can either eat it on its own, or dip it in the mussel broth.

Cheers!=)

And since it's Mozza, it was improper to leave without trying any dishes from the Mozzarella Bar and thus we asked the waiter for recommendations.

Could not remember the name of the dish but it has 3 scoops of cheese on top of the parma ham/bacon. The cheese seems too heavy for the bread. The taste of the cheese overpower everything else, but it's fine for me, a cheese lover.

A shot of us with our main course.

Ricotta & Egg Raviolo with browned butter

This was one of their popular dish, and it did not disappoint at all. The raviolo, was slightly smaller than the size of the fist. Once broken, the creamy, golden egg yolk oozed out to mix with the browned butter, creating a rich and thick sauce for the pasta.

A pretty good dish, and it was not jerlak!

a messy shot!

Grilled Wagyu Beef Tagliata with rucola & parimigiano reggiano

The wagyu was tender and juicy, pairing up with rucola and parmesan. The first few mouth kept us wanting more. However, there were just too much of rucola that almost hid the beef away. Also, both of us do not like rucola, which has a very bitter taste. The parmesan was a bit awkward to us.

My presentation is not bad too rite? =p

Say hi to the General!

Could quite remember the name of this dish either. It consist of crepes with sauteed raspberry and sliced almond. A very sweet dessert, too sweet to our likings.

Picolo Budino Caldo di Cioccolato with candied almonds & bourbon gelato

This was a molten chocolate cake, with bourbon gelato on top of it. The bourbon gelato was very good, but the molten cake was average.

Overall, we had a pleasant dinning experience. The Italian dishes that the restaurant served was pretty good, and it is always packed. Hence reservations are a must. Delicious Italian food at a pretty affordable price, so what are you waiting for. =)

Our Wedding Anniversary (Part 2)

Spa session at Adeva Spa!
An hour passed in a blink of an eye!
Rejuvenated!

Headed to Nanjya Monjya for our dinner. Instead of the usual cooked food, we decided to try their Teppanyaki this time, with a few cooked dishes. One of the must-have dish, the Tenderloin Cube Steak. It is still as delicious as before!

At only $5, this is really value for money. Ochazuke, which means rice in a bowl of clear soup. We love the Plum based clear soup! =)

Seafood Teppanyaki!
Gal cooking her favorite scallops!

Some stuffed mushrooms and soba to go along with the seafood teppanyaki

Grilling the mushrooms!
Taking a stroll along Robertson Quay after dinner before going back home.

Our Wedding Anniversary (Part 1)

Today marked our first Wedding Anniversary. Both of us took leave to celebrate this day, starting off with a brunch at Alkaff Mansion, followed by indulging in a hour of Spa session, and lastly dinner at Nanjya Monjya! =p

Alkaff Mansion is located at Telok Blangah Hill Park and it has a a panoramic view of the surrounding park and sea. However, for those who does not drive, you will have to walk quite some distance from the main road.

Complimentary bread for us!

Warm sea bass "Carpaccio" served with barley and basil pesto sauce

This dish would be even nicer for some one who likes barley. Surprised that they used barley as an ingredient for Carpaccio. It has a refreshing taste!

Homemade Foie Gras terrine served with mixed salad in aged balsamic reduction

There were 4 selections of dishes for Starters. However, this dish requires a top-up of $10. It was a bit hard and dry, otherwise, a delicious dish.It was served together with a small piece of bread, which has the same area as the foie gras. It was too luxurious to have such a big portion of foie gras spread on top of the bread! Yummy!!! =p

Too happy to have the foie gras =p

Grilled Beef Tenderloin served with Asparagus and Broccolini in Black Pepper sauce

This is another premium dish for the main course, available at an additional $14. Requested the beef to be cooked to medium rare, and it was perfect! Soft, tender and juicy, it was easy to chew too! The black pepper sauce goes well with the beef, and it was beyond expectation. 4 stars to the dish! =p

Manicotti with Taggiasche Black Olive, Capers in Tomato Sauce

This dish looks simple, yet it is delicious. A simple, delicious dish is always one of the hardest to cook. It seems like the pasta has absorbed the tomato sauce. There was sufficient sauce and not too dry on the pasta. It was surprising that it tasted just as nice without any cheese. I usually prefer to have lots of cheese on my pasta.

Hey, this was supposed to be mine!!! =(

Chocolate Lava eruptions with Pistachio ice cream

Guess you just have to order the premium dish to try when it is available on the menu. This was another one, with a top-up of $4. The chocolate larva cake was awesome. It was pipping hot and it was flowing out rapidly after slicing the cake apart. The chocolate filling was thick and not too sweet, blend well with the yummy, cold pistachio ice cream! Heavenly combination!

Frozen Yogurt with kiwi, raspberry and blueberry

This actually taste more like a mousse cake to me than a frozen yogurt! Sweet and nice! =)

Exploring around the Mansion, we found a giant metal  rocking chair

Off to some window shopping to allow the digestion of the food before we head over to Paragon for our Spa appointment! =)
