Our Wedding Anniversary (Part 2)

Spa session at Adeva Spa!
An hour passed in a blink of an eye!
Rejuvenated!

Headed to Nanjya Monjya for our dinner. Instead of the usual cooked food, we decided to try their Teppanyaki this time, with a few cooked dishes. One of the must-have dish, the Tenderloin Cube Steak. It is still as delicious as before!

At only $5, this is really value for money. Ochazuke, which means rice in a bowl of clear soup. We love the Plum based clear soup! =)

Seafood Teppanyaki!
Gal cooking her favorite scallops!

Some stuffed mushrooms and soba to go along with the seafood teppanyaki

Grilling the mushrooms!
Taking a stroll along Robertson Quay after dinner before going back home.

Our Wedding Anniversary (Part 1)

Today marked our first Wedding Anniversary. Both of us took leave to celebrate this day, starting off with a brunch at Alkaff Mansion, followed by indulging in a hour of Spa session, and lastly dinner at Nanjya Monjya! =p

Alkaff Mansion is located at Telok Blangah Hill Park and it has a a panoramic view of the surrounding park and sea. However, for those who does not drive, you will have to walk quite some distance from the main road.

Complimentary bread for us!

Warm sea bass "Carpaccio" served with barley and basil pesto sauce

This dish would be even nicer for some one who likes barley. Surprised that they used barley as an ingredient for Carpaccio. It has a refreshing taste!

Homemade Foie Gras terrine served with mixed salad in aged balsamic reduction

There were 4 selections of dishes for Starters. However, this dish requires a top-up of $10. It was a bit hard and dry, otherwise, a delicious dish.It was served together with a small piece of bread, which has the same area as the foie gras. It was too luxurious to have such a big portion of foie gras spread on top of the bread! Yummy!!! =p

Too happy to have the foie gras =p

Grilled Beef Tenderloin served with Asparagus and Broccolini in Black Pepper sauce

This is another premium dish for the main course, available at an additional $14. Requested the beef to be cooked to medium rare, and it was perfect! Soft, tender and juicy, it was easy to chew too! The black pepper sauce goes well with the beef, and it was beyond expectation. 4 stars to the dish! =p

Manicotti with Taggiasche Black Olive, Capers in Tomato Sauce

This dish looks simple, yet it is delicious. A simple, delicious dish is always one of the hardest to cook. It seems like the pasta has absorbed the tomato sauce. There was sufficient sauce and not too dry on the pasta. It was surprising that it tasted just as nice without any cheese. I usually prefer to have lots of cheese on my pasta.

Hey, this was supposed to be mine!!! =(

Chocolate Lava eruptions with Pistachio ice cream

Guess you just have to order the premium dish to try when it is available on the menu. This was another one, with a top-up of $4. The chocolate larva cake was awesome. It was pipping hot and it was flowing out rapidly after slicing the cake apart. The chocolate filling was thick and not too sweet, blend well with the yummy, cold pistachio ice cream! Heavenly combination!

Frozen Yogurt with kiwi, raspberry and blueberry

This actually taste more like a mousse cake to me than a frozen yogurt! Sweet and nice! =)

Exploring around the Mansion, we found a giant metal  rocking chair

Off to some window shopping to allow the digestion of the food before we head over to Paragon for our Spa appointment! =)

Chef at work!

I was on leave today and decided to cook some spaghetti. Went to the supermarket to get some fresh scallops and prawns, and other ingredients as well.

Gal loves scallops, prawns and spaghetti in tomato sauce.

My spaghetti in Aglio Olio style. =)

Oven baked Portobello mushroom with cheese, tomato and capsicum.

Dim Sum date at Yu Cuisine

We have always wanted to try the dim sum at Bosses (黑社会), which is located in Vivo City. Gal came across a deal in Groupon for dinning at Yu Cuisine and quickly snapped up the coupons.

Yu Cuisine, loosely translated as fish Cuisine, is located in Marina Bay Sands and is managed by the same group as Bosses. There was an incident and we almost call off this brunch session.

Initially, we were told by the manager that we were unable to use the coupons for dinning until further notice from Groupon. 3 other couples present were told the same thing and we were asked to fill up a form so that they will either refund us the money, or inform us on the dates where we can used the coupons.

Shortly after we filled up the form and about to leave the restaurant, we were told by the manager that they have resolved the issue with Groupon, and we can proceed to use the vouchers purchased.

Phew!

Crispy Fried Salmon Skin was served as soon as we took our seats. This was something different from the peanuts that most Chinese restaurant would serve. The Salmon Skin was very crispy but not oily at all, one of the best salmon skin that i have tried so far.

First on the order list was the Snow Mountain Char Siew Bun. It resemble Tim Ho Wan's famous char siew buns. The char siew fillings was quite decent, but the bun was quite dry.

Yu's Signature Golden Lava Custard Bun.
This is one of the muz try!
The size of the custard bun was quite big too.

The pipping hot salt egg york just oozed out non-stop after the first bite!
It had a rich taste, something which i like.

Finally a shot of the 2 of us together! =)

This is the Birdnest Scallops, and the scallops were really fresh. However, it turn out to be not something that we had hoped for. The birdnest actually refers to the mashed yam with fried flour, which resembles a BIRD NEST! Wahaha, we were hoping for the expensive bird nest!

This is one of the most popular dim sum, the Dinosaur Rice Roll. This is one big chee cheong fun wrapped around crispy fried batter and turnips and meat floss on top. Though it was deep fried, it did not appear to be greasy and goes well with the unique sauce.

Queen Siew Mai.
Does the Queen come from the prawn with its tail sticking upwards?
Fresh prawns, otherwise an ordinary siew mai.

We can eat a lot!!!! =x

Forgot the name of the dish.
Seems like Layered Custard Cake?
This was quite disappointing as it was pretty bland and dry.

Super Dumpling. Just like its name, it is a super dumpling with mock shark fins and crab meat. The skin of the dumpling was very thing and the soup was very light and tasty! slurp slurp!!

And we ended the meal with a dessert, Mango Pomelo Sago. This is one of the best mango pomelo that we have tried. It is thick and smooth, and it has aloe vera cubes in it.

We had quite a satisfying meal. We will be back if we have cravings for dim sum and such deal is available again in the future.
