Exploring Resort World

Running out of places to go recently. Gal was suggesting to go to Resort World since we have not been there before. Decide to bring my dslr out to practice taking photos with it.

Seems like everytime when i decide to bring my dslr out, it'll rain. And today was no different. As i seriously in need to practice time before my BKK trip, decided to bring it out despite the rain. Actually brought along my LX3 too as a back up.

Arriving at the entrance of the Resort World Via Bus RWS 8 from Vivo. Round trip for $2, inclusive of entrance fee to Sentosa. Seems like the cheapest mode of transport to Sentosa other than car pooling.

Chance upon free Resort World Membership booth while exploring the main atrium and sign up for it. Great members rate for hotel bookings, discounts for shopping and dining, and free tickets to Universal Studios (provided you enter the casino !).

The membership registration comes with a free can of sweets that looks like casino chips to us at first look.

Stunning Lambo at the entrance of the casino. 2 winners have hit the jackpot but both opted for $600,000 cash instead. Guessed I would chose cash too over the sports car.

Not sure what is the name of the statue. An apple was spotted at the foot of the lady's statue. Or is this Adam and Eve? hmmm ..... i guess not .....

Did not purchase tickets to the Universal Studios. Wanted to wait for all the attractions to be open before considering going. Anyway, there is an ongoing promotion, $2 entry during Thur to Sat, from 7pm to 10 pm. Guess this $2 entry does not include the rides? Tickets was already sold out when we were thinking if we should join the long queue.

Hershey's Chocolate World

I love Reese's Peanut Buttercups !!

Garrett Popcorn shop !!!!
One of the nicest popcorn so far !

Gone in 60 seconds ?? The small packet looks big and it cost $6. The price is almost similar to Cathay's but this is definitely much more delicious. Trying a self-taken shot using 550D. Tough job especially with long lens and heavy weight !!!

Chicago Mix Popcorn !!
A mixture of cheesy popcorn and carmel popcorn

Another self taken shots. Trying to fit both of us into the picture. Need more practice to get the hang of the angle and weight of the cam. Time seems to have stopped at this moment.

Whenever there's a fountain, there will be children (^_^)

While we are back at Vivo, happen to past by the atrium area and there is an tourism exhibition on Bangkok. Grab some brouches and just nice for our itinerery planning.

Had our dinner at Food Republic food court before heading back home. Completed a day's shooting with my dslr, trying very hard not to use my LX3 throughout. I certainly need more shooting experience with the dslr.

I wonder will i ever master the dslr ......

World Cup Fever

Finally the World Cup is here. Going to be lots of late nite and snacks. Went to the Singapore Pools @ Paradiz Center after dinner with the intention of watch Argentina vs Nigeria there. Bumped into Weijie and Diana along the way.

Anyway, one muz place a minimum bet of $50 before midnight and $20 after midnight in order to enter ! The requirements put us off as we juz wanted to make some fun bets while watching so that there will be more excitment. There were lots of foreign workers at the betting station too, hoping to make some extra cash.

Nice, cozy TCC was full house, and we head to some pubs @ Princep Street to catch the game. No air con, hot, and lots of people smoking. Forgot to charge my cam means i can only take photos using my iPhone.

All the pubs here are packed as well. Lucky to be able to get a table before the match starts. To my surprise, there is a $5 world cup cover charge per person. What a way to increase revenue! As the location is near Little India, lots of foreign workers were spotted standing by the pavement and watching the game for free.

Potato Wedges and a jug of beer to go with the game ...

Our betting slips

My gal lost her bet. She was quite agitated throughout the game, especially with Messi spurring numerous opportunities. Juz one more goal would have make her a winner as she bet on the total number of goals to be even.

As for me, i place my bet on Argentina winning on half time and won !

A New Addition !!

Finally bought a DSLR that I've have been longing for a long long time le. Thanks to Roy and Kim, managed to purchase this camera at a special price as they have a friend working in Harvey Norman. Looks like Harvey Norman would be the shop i frequent most in the coming few yrs for any electronic items. Thanks bro for the deal !

My gal seems to be more eager to get her hands on the dslr than me! After assembling, there she going snapping away, getting the virgin shots! =p

Taking photos using dslr seems so different from my LX3, it seems like starting right from scratch again, learning how to take nice photos. And that seems to be a daunting task to me, at least for now.

Dinner @ Tampopo

Watched Prince of Persia today. Having played the game last time, looking forward to this movie, where reviews have been good. Great action pack movie and nice babe as well. The kissing scene always happen in inappropriate situations.

After the movie, walk around Orchard before settling down for dinner at Tampopo. Recent poll conducted by Hungrygowhere showed that Tampopo actually came up top, beating the likes of Ippudo Ramen @ Mandarin Gallery (2nd place) and my favourite Marutama Ramen @ Liang Court.

First look at the menu, it certainly has a wider selection of food compared to most of the ramen restaurant. My gal had a hard time chosing her ramen.

Decided to order 2 sides to go with our ramen. First on the list, cold tofu. The cold tofu was served with nice sauce, not too dilute nor salty. The outer layer of the tofu was quite crispy yet soft inside.

This is one of our favourite sides and a must have dish, Edamane.

I have ordered the promotion, Black Pig Toro BBQ Ramen. As the soup was cooked using pork bone, the porkie smell was quite strong for me. I guess i prefered the chicken based soup? Other than the pokie-ness taste, it was quite salty as well. As for the egg, it was nicely done. Though hard boiled, the yolk is soft. Egg is a muz have to go with ramen.

BBQ Black Pig. Find it a bit tough and dry, compared to the cha siew served @ Marutama, which "melts" in your mouth.

My gal decided on this Hokodate Shio Ramen, Ramen in pork and seafood soup. The soup has a prawny taste, though there is only a tiny shrimp in the soup. The Cha Siew is also quite tough. Gal finds it normal too.

the tiny shrimp in gal's ramen soup .....
looks creepy =p

empty shells of Edamane ... we can have another bowl =p

Maybe we went there with high expectation, or we order the wrong dishes. Both of us were not very satisfied with the dinner. Though it was not bad, but better than Ippudo Ramen and Marutama Ramen? I beg to differ.

Once upon a MilkShake

My gal came across this ice-cream cum milkshake place on website and wanted to try. Head down to the place after attending the Mandarin Oriental bridal show. Nothing beats a cool, smoothing milkshake / ice-cream on a hot afternoon.

nice cafe, with purple and white color ....
small and cosy place ....

The mini-size cup looks cute ...
but definitely not enough for me =p

cool take-away carrier ....
and they actually provide delivery services too ...
if only I'm working in Tanjong Pagar area ...

They have 8 different flavours in total and each comes with a cartoon character. The top 2 best-selling, Spooky Mocha and Pirate Queen Peach were sold out / not available.

these tables and stools make us look like kids =p
reviving our childhood memories??

awaiting eagerly for our orders to come

The hopscotch loyalty card and our orders. The brownie taste normal and it doesn't look like what we imagine it would be. Maybe the ice-cream doesn't go well with it? The Agent Strawberry on the other hand is nice, and it contains tiny bits of strawberry flesh.

my gal's Chocolate Truffle Castle with toppings ...
Yummy Yummy ... Rich chocolate taste !
mini-sized milkshake for mini her

My Sir Cookie & Cream Milkshake ....
nice too but i prefer my gal's

emo me and happy gal

the location of Once upon a Milkshake

After the milkshakes and brownie, we took a walk to Chinatown, passing my Amoy market and Ann Road. Just before the Amoy market, spotted squirrels among the trees. Surprised to see cute squirrels surviving in CBD areas ! Too bad, this is the max zoom my LX3 can achieve, couldn't get a proper shot at it.

Along the way, took some funny shots. Initially juz wanna capture the height of the arc. Somehow it become some funny shots with Annie trying to lift me to hit the walls and trying to lift me up into the air. Head back to Annie's place for dinner and nua for the rest of the day.
