Trip to Universal Studio

Gal's brother gave us a pair of tickets to the Universal Studios. We decided to go on a week day as the visitors would be much lesser, and we will not have to spend a long time queuing for all the rides. However, this would mean missing out on the fireworks.

 

Thankfully, the weather was fine.

There were not many visitors seen along the streets, which was a good thing for us.

First stop, Transformers Ride.

The ride was pretty popular as many people were seen queuing up.

Gotta wait around half an hour before it's our turn.

There were some exhibition of the items along the way to keep us occupied while waiting in the queue. Quite a thrilling 3D ride with storyline!

Next stop, Battlestar Galactica! This is what makes your ticket worthwhile! We tried both the Human and the Cyclone ride! It was gal's first time taking a roller coaster ride. Good job! =p

Entering the Ancient Egypt World

Muz try Revenge of the Mummy ride. It is a thrilling indoor roller coaster ride full of twist and surprises. And the setting is pitch-dark, which makes it even scarier.

The Lost World. This is a world mainly for families and kids. We only tried the Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure and the Canopy Flyer.

 

The Jurassic Park Rapids simulates a ride in a raft. Be prepared to get wet at the end of the ride. Poncho is required, unless you do not mind getting wet.

 

The Canopy Flyer is a leisure ride around the perimeter of the Lost World, where you can enjoy a bird's eye view of the whole area.

Journey to the Far Far Away Land!

Luck was not on our side. Throughout the whole day, we did not meet Shrek, Princess Fiona or Puss in Boots.

There was still some time before the WaterWorld show, trying to pass time by taking the Madagascar: A Crate Adventure

WaterWorld show! A cool short sketch with lots of explosions, stunts, thrills, and also WATER!!! Be careful where you sit, as it will determine how wet you will end up in. =p

The last mascot that we met on our way out. It was quite a nice experience after all. However, the place is quite small. We were able to cover everything in half a day.

 

Don't think we will spend $68 per pax to come back again, unless it adds a few more attractions.

Restaurant Week @ Brasserie Les Saveurs!

All set for the feasting at Brasserie Les Saveurs. We are always looking forward to Restaurant Week. This is the only opportunity for our to try some of the fine dining restaurant at an affordable price.

Tonight's dinner was a 3-course meal. For the starters, there were 3 selections to choose from: Foie Gras Terrine, Salad with Blue cheese and mustard dressing, and lastly the Roasted Tomato Soup. It was a straight forward choice!

 

We chose the Foie Gras Terrine and the Roasted Tomato Soup to share. 

 

The preparation of the Terrine was ultimate, purist experience of foie gras. The foie gras has  rich, buttery taste, and I guess only salt and pepper are added to it. It would be better if we have bread to go along with it.

 

It was not too bad, but we had tried better ones at Absinthe, O.S.O, or even at White Rabbit.

Spicy Roasted Tomato Soup. It had olives, tomato tartar and basil in it. It was surprisingly delicious, especially when i don't really like tomato.

Up next, our main course. There were also 3 selections for the main course:

 

- Risotto (Baby artichoke risotto with Parmesan cheese and cream sauce,

- Fillet de Boeuf (Roast beef tenderloin)

- Vivaveau en Piperade (Oven-baked Red Snapper)

Gal's Oven Baked Red Snapper. It was served with Parma ham and garlic. French cuisine is known for its nice presentation of the food and the small portion, and this certain fit the criteria. =x

 

Most important, the fish fillet was very fresh. It was soft and tender, and it was not too dry. The unique sauce combine superbly with the fish fillet.

My Roasted Beef Tenderloin with red wine sauce, paired with polenta sticks and salads. Requested my beef to be done in medium rare and it was perfect! Not too bloody, which was a plus point.

 

The outer layer of the beef is slightly crispy and has a slight burnt taste, but it was delicious! The polenta sticks were also quite nice. It tasted a bit like toufu or potato. =p

Ok, the photo did not do justice to the food. The place was quite dark and it was awkward to keep flashing while taking photos.

Our last course of the night, desserts!

There were only 2 choices, hence we chose both of them.

Pomme Verte. The top layer was a slow-baked apple, followed by a green apple sorbet, sitting on top of the calvados custard cream. Not only it was an art piece, it was simply irresistible! Nice!

My Chocolat, which consist of Trio of chocolate mousse with coffee ice-cream. It was a dish which you can experience 3 different taste of the chocolate! Bitter, sweet and milky! Love the coffee ice-cream too!

It was a great way to end the night with great desserts! looking forward to the next Restaurant Week in October! =)

Get Fat Monday!

Took a day off from work as we had a booking for Restaurant Week tonight. Gal got cravings for some spicy food, and since we were in Tampines, decided to try Absolute Thai. This is the restaurant that we have passed by so many times but we have not try before.

Nice Tom Yum Firepot. Gal purchased the coupon from Groupon, and thus, the firepot only cost $9.90 instead of the usual price $21.90. The soup was quite authentic and the seafood were fresh.

We ordered a Tom Yum Seafood soup Phad Thai and Green Curry Chicken to share, and a bowl of rice for me.

The soup was so tasty that we finished it up in no time!

The Phad Thai here was quite good actually, comparing to the ones that we had tried before. The noodles were not too dry and it doesn't stick together. The peanuts and lime add fragrance to the noodles.

The Green Curry Chicken here served up to our expectation. It consist of a blend of coconut milk, curry paste, spices root commonly found in Thai cuisine. The chicken was very tender and the green curry goes very well with the rice.

It was a good meal to chase away our Monday blues. We headed to town after lunch before going to St Regis for our Restaurant Week dinner appointment. Going to have another feasting at night! =)

Mar Babies

Another month has passed. It's March birthday celebration. We had cakes this time round and they were quite nice! Some random shots of the celebration.

Burgers Time @ Kraze Burger

Gal purchased $20 worth of coupon for $10 online for Kraze Burgers, which is located at Marina Bay Sands. Kraze Burger originated from South Korea and it is actually quite popular there.

Sinful Chili Cheese Fries. The fries were soggy and the chillies wasn't spicy enough. Think Carl's Junior's Beef Chili Cheese Fries was better?

My burger, Mega Bite. It consist of 2 Beef Patties and 2 slices of cheese added with Kraze’s special Steak sauce. It was nothing to shout about.

We are not someone who is crazy about burgers. Also, we feel like places like Relish was much better.
