Valentine's Celebration @ Absinthe

Both gal and I took leave today to celebrate Valentine's Day. We went for a KTV session before heading over to Absinthe for dinner. Absinthe is a French restaurant, and it is actually open by OSO Ristorante Owner, which is beside it.

Been to OSO and loved the food there, we were looking forward to the dishes at Absinthe.

The complimentary bread was nice and fragrant, juz like OSO's!

Sweet, White Wine for Gal and Red Wine for me

The first course of the night, Talaki of Wagyu Beef, Marinated Egg Yolk and Truffle Dressing. The presentation of the dish was just like an art piece! Not only did it look good, it taste great as well!

Seared Hokkaido Scallop and Prawn-Cep Raviole, Mushroom Foam.
The scallop is very fresh and very "Q"!

Pan Fried Foie Gras with Warm Blinis and Marinated Cherries. We love Foie Gras, and this was easily one of the best the we have tried before. It literally melts in your mouth and the seasoning was unique as well, with a tinge of cherry taste.

Gal's main course, Seared John Dory Fillet with Crushed Potatoes, Spinach and Shellfish Hollandaise Sauce. The fillet was crispy on the skin side, while the meat retained its moisture. It was our first time seeing spinach served with dory fillet and hollandaise sauce, and it was delicious!

My Milk-Fed Veal Tenderloin served with Mashed Potato, Green Beans and Morel Sauce. When the dish was first served, it did not look like a tenderloin to me, more like a thick piece of ham perhaps.

With the tenderloin cook at medium rare, it was very tender and juicy! It just makes you crave for more!

The last course of the night, Warm Chocolate Fondant, Clementine Creme Brulee and Passion Fruit Blane Mange.

Roses for the Ladies!
This photo was actually taken by the Chef himself!
Honoured! =)

We will definitely be back someday. The service was good, and it has great ambience. Most importantly, it serves great food.

When it comes to French Cuisine, most people will think that the portion would be very small and it is expensive, but not at Absinthe. They strive to serve delicious dishes in generous portion at affordable price! =)

A Trip to Marmalade Toast

We were walking in Town when gal suddenly have cravings for coffee and cakes. Gal came across Marmalade Toast from a blog and wanted to try. So here we were having some bites.

One Red Velvet cupcake, a Smoked Salmon Sandwich, a dunno-wat-name tart and a glass of fruit juice.

This was nice.
Ordered this off the shelves, forgot its name.

The Smoked Salmon Sandwich looked plain but it it quite delicious. The bread was toasted to perfection, has a crispy texture but no burnt smell. However, the Red Velvet cupcake was very normal. Maybe we should have go for other more exotic flavors. =p

Since it is related to Marmalade Pantry, food wasn't tat bad. Most importantly, the food is not as expensive too. They serve breakfast too, but only till 11am. Maybe will drop by again if we are within the area and have cravings for wraps or sandwiches.

Dinner @ Yomenya Goemon

Met up with Ros and Ah Lu for dinner at Yomenya Goemon. It is the latest Japanese Restaurant to hit the town. It serves mainly Japanese Spaghetti and thin crust pizza.

Ordered a dessert set, which comes with a soup, salad, soft drink and dessert. The salad dressing was quite nice, however, the small is quite small.

Dim Sum Feast @ Rui Chun

It's Friday nite and Gal was craving for dim sum. Usually we would go to Wan Dou Sek to satisfy our cravings, but this time round, we decide to give Rui Chun a try.

Armed with my LX3, we began our Dim Sum exploration. We have been hearing positive things about Rui Chun, and hoped it would be nice.

They have a wide variety of dim sum compared to Wan Dou Sek.
Spoiled for choice and everything looks nice!

I am not taking photo of ya .... =x

Personally, I prefer Wan Dou Sek's than Rui Chun's. This was pretty dry, and the fillings were not fragrant as well.

This is one of their signature dish.
Not too bad and quite creative!
The mee suan on top goes well with the carrot cake.

The Drunken Chicken. I would have given a few more points if the chicken was boneless. It had a strong wine taste and the chicken meat was quite tough too.

Xiao Long Bao! Not having high expectation for this. It was pipping hot and the portion of the fillings were quite generous. The dumplings did contain some soup, but it wasn't tasty.

where's my char siew????

Har Gow taste pretty normal too

This was one of my favorite dish for the night, Layer Pancake with Egg & Meat Floss!
I think i had 6 pieces in total! =p

Crispy Egg Plant with Meat Floss. I do not like Egg Plant but this totally changed me. The egg plant was fried and lightly salted, and together with the meat floss, it was delicious!

The custard was pipping hot and it was in semi-liquid state.
Would be nicer if the taste is richer.
Or was it me who prefer strong taste? =x

The dinner was damn full! We had actually ordered 9 different dishes for the night! Despite having more variety of dim sum, I would still prefer to go to Wan Dou Sek. Probably would not be back anytime soon as there are more dim sum places that we would like to try!

And I still love my LX3, the photos still look great! =)
