Boxing Day Treat @ Garibaldi

It's Boxing Day and I was treated to a hearty and delicious lunch buffet @ Garibaldi by gal. Gal juz received her 13th month bonus, something I wished I have too =(

It has been quite a long time since I had buffet. Most of the buffets serve a huge varieties of food, but quality wise, it may not be tat good. However, this is not quite the same at Garibaldi, where they serve ala-carte buffet in 3 courses: Starter, Main & Desserts. You can re-order any dishes as many times as you wish. Btw, they have excellent service too !

And it's one of the restaurant that I do not mind coming back again !

Nice slice of bread for us while we wait for our starters to come.
Oliver oil with Vinegar to go with the bread

here starters !!!
*Slurp Slurp* !!

Big fresh oysters !!!! Seems like I'm feasting lots of oysters recently !! The slice of lemon is wrapped up with a cloth so that when you squeeze the lemon, you wun have to go through the trouble removing the seeds. How thoughtful ! =)

This is the first time eating oyster without any tobasco sauce. But it was surprisingly good ! The oysters have the "hai yang de wei dao" !!! It's as though they have juz been caught and served immediately ! =p~~

Fishy Fishy ! This dish certainly doesn't look like or taste like an Italian cuisine. It looks more like a Thai food. Fried fish fillet that doesn't taste oily and compliment well with the spicy sauce.

Awesome Seafood Salad !
Generous amount of seafood within the salad.
I certainly wun shun away from such salad ! =p

hmmm..... I dunno wat's this ....
Juz eat and finish everything off =p

The first of our mains ...... Pasta is always associated with Italian food and they are simply delicious !!! After trying the pastas here, all other pastas probably pale in comparision. You would definitely wanna come back again !! Nothing was left on the plate at the end, probably not even the sauce ! =p

My favourite main !!!! Why ?? Cos it's very cheesy !!! Guess the photo speaks for itself, need no futher write-up from me =p

Another nice Fishy mains !! =p~~~~

It's Turkey breast but it's all soft and tender !! Amazing and it's not too dry too !! I was surprise to find chestnuts inside the dish, something which is quite oriental. I love chestnut btw, used to buy it form the makeshift stalls, happily peeling it and munching it away =p

Well, did i mention you can re-order any of the dish again?? Was quite shock when gal wanted another serving of oysters, so this is why the photo pops up while we are having our mains.

The desserts and Us !

We were quite surprise and sad that this is the only dessert plate. Perhaps we were expecting a few desserts to be served instead of juz this plate. For the choz lovers or the sweet-tooth! =)

hmmm.... these props look familar, don't they? =p Well, as you can see from the previous photo, it's a deco on the table. Guess we are suppose to observe our dining etiquette, but who cares =p Trying to dress up a bit to show the X'mas mood !

Stubborn gal who is allergic to wines and alcoholic drinks but still likes drinking them, especially red wine.
Zzzzz....

A Simple & Relaxing Xmas Day

Both of us woke up pretty late due to the late nite yesterday. Went for a movie, "Hello, Stranger" @ Golden Village. Heard from my brother it's a pretty nice movie and decided to watch it.

It was an excellent movie, a gd mixture of comedy and romance. Didn't expect a gd Thai comedy romance movie as they are known for horror movies instead.

Got a nice Ben & Jerry Popcorn combo, and it comes with a nice B&J ice-cream and mug !

It's Christmas !!! Merry X'mas !!!

Christmas is finally here !! It juz give me another reason to feast !! =p

The search for a dining venue started pretty early for me this year, due to my reservist which is one week before X'mas. After going through many blogs and reviews, I decided to book Picotin for my X'mas Eve dinner.

Trying out a new dining venue on a special occasion is always a big gamble. Say for example my previous yr dinner at Oosh, it was damn ex and no ambience at all.

One of the main reason for choosing Picotin is because it is the one of the few restaurants that serve Ala Carte Menu instead of X'mas set lunch. In addition, Picotin is known for its brunch, hence I feel tot maybe dinner wun be bad either. And most importantly, the pricing is not as steep as other restaurants, which tend to jack up the price on festive seasons.

Nice, cosy Picotin at Bukit Timah.....
Looks peaceful too =)

Phew ! It was a gamble that pays off
Nice ambience ....

Special X'mas Menu !!
And oh no !! Escargots were already sold out !!! =(

The first of our starters, half a dozen of fresh oysters !!! Yummy yummy !!! Didn't know when did i actually start to like oysters. Maybe since The Line buffet. Oysters are very nice IF they are fresh ! It is sweet, and slightly salty with "Hai Yang De Wei Dao" ! It comes with special vinegar sauce which combines well with the oyster. This is the first time we had oysters with vinegar as oysters are usually serve with lemon and Tabasco sauce.

It weird for both of us to love eating oysters when both of us don't eat the "mini oysters" in the fried oysters ! Well, my gal and I do have lots in common !! =p

Foie Gras Poele, Poires Pochees, Brioche Toastee, our the other starter. If Foie Gras is on the menu and we juz gotta to order it. A generous serving of Foie Gras combines well with a slice of toasted bread. The Foie Gras is not over-cooked. Soft and tender, it melts in your mouth and its juice will ooze out. You can also spread it on the toasted bread.

Not too sure what is the thing in the middle. Looks like and tastes like some sashimi. It does not need any seasoning and yet it can be so delicious. Surprise Surprise !

Gal in action !!!
and her cute diy fingernails art ......

slurp slurp....
Not a single drop of juice is spared !! =p
the whole plate was emptied within a few mins !!

close up of the fresh oyster.... comes off easily from the shell ...

Gal's main course, Sea Bass Fillet with Smoked Bacon and Brussels Sprouts. Unlike others, the Sea Bass is not tough and dry. Nice presentation of the dish, makes the dish even more appetising !

My Poached Turkey Breast with Cranberry Sauce.
Yummi-licious !!

Giving gal her first present while waiting for our desserts .....
glad tat she loves it very much =)

After some 15 mins, our desserts were finally here. Gal's Creme Brulee with fresh berries. It was quite sweet and smooth !

My desserts, Fondant au chocolat, glace foret noire, cerises, translated as Chocolate fondant with black forest ice-cream and cherries. Juz my kind of desserts, very chocolate-y !! The black forest ice-cream is really unique! It was melting away fast, gotta eat it before it turns into liquid! =p

A wonderful dining experience at Picotin, and we actually spent almost 3 hrs there. Probably one of the longest dinner we had. Not because we gotta wait very long for the dishes, but the place is has a nice ambience to enjoy your dinner slowly and chatting with your love ones.

Head to Sub Station for a little chill with friends. Great performance by 53A, especially the female lead singer. Ended the nite at ard 2plus am.

Back at home, we exchange our little presents this yr.

A Little Twin Star Organiser and Tumbler for ya ...
A passport cover and pink undies for me!! =p

Merry X'mas and a Happy New Yr to all !!! Have a great feasting day too !!! =p

Dinner @ With a Pinch of Salt

And our feasting continued into the nite. Dinner was at a cosy restaurant, With a Pinch of Salt.

Christmas is around the corner and and you can feel it in the air.

The prices of the dishes are considered not too steep as compared to other restaurant. Both of us ordered a dinner set each and an additional side, escargots. Here's our soup and salad.

We ordered one of the hot favorite dish, Esther Escargots. They are oven-baked with spices and they were very juicy ! I know it may be a bit cruel, but well..... Dun make them sacrifice for nothing ! =p

gal was so focused on digging her escargot =p

I hope this does not turn you off ......
Maybe juz imagine yourself eating some shellfish =)

Look at the shells.....
they are so beautiful despite having gone through the oven ....

Gal's Mr Cordon - Bleu. The fish fillet is stuffed with ham and melted cheese. It's yummi-licious, but the veggies were quite bland.

My Seafood Paella, which is suppose to be a famous rice dish from Spain. Not too bad, but it taste a bit like the Fish & Co. Seafood Platter, only in smaller quantity. The rice was quite fragrant and the seafood were quite fresh.

Our desserts, Creme Caramel and Bread Pudding !!!
Nice and sweet !!

Heading back home after a full dinner. Last min packing for my reservist and dyeing my hair black. It's going to be a week of camp food for me again.
